Happiness Is A Very Small Desk And A Very Big Wastebasket

Well…perhaps for me Robert Orben isn’t entirely correct.  For the past few months I’ve been deliberating on a desk upgrade.  Our current desk is a crapper from Wal-Mart that is close to taking its last breath.  Besides that…it looks like a desk from my college years…well it is the desk from my college years…but we’re big kids now and should afford to have a more intimate setting where bills can be paid and papers can be written in style.

Here’s my dilemma:  I have no idea what kind of desk I want to purchase.  These are the photos I’ve been saving on my computer for months years eons, and I’ve run in circles until I’m dizzy on what I prefer.  Soooo what would you pick?  Any of these?  If not, attach a link to what you would pick for your desk of choice.  I need help and inspiration!!

  1. I love the one in the closet! As a person who has a whole room that is the area for paying bills and writing papers in style, let me tell you, it gets junked up with a quickness. I would love to be able to just shut the closet door and my house look perfectly clean. Instead I can’t shut the door because the cat pan is in there. :-)

  2. I love the closet one just because you can shut the door and be done with it – HOWEVER I would love to have an office type desk that I can look professional at even if it’s just me. :D I would want to display some photos of mine w/a book shelf of different portfolios (Kids, weddings, etc.) and all my photography inspiration books. Is this going in the guest room upstairs?

    • yeah we’re going to put it upstairs in the guest room, so it has to be small. i figure for my business, i want people to see “me”, which isn’t really behind an office desk. it’s more like ‘let’s prop our feet up on the coffee table, can i grab you a hot tea?’ kind of feeling. we need something for our full computer and a space to put our office stuff aka file cabinet and whatnot. we have a huge closet in the guest bedroom so i think we’re going to use part of it for the bigger office items. but i really like the one in the closet too…

  3. My favorite is the first one.I suppose it would depend on what you do with your desk, how much room you had, and if you had to share it with the hubby. If I were to design an office for me I like this one:

    Clean, simple, yet feminine. :)

    Good luck!

P.S. Sorry I couldn’t get the link to work. Copy & Paste!

  4. I like 1, 6, 7, and 8. Maybe that narrows it down a bit? I like the bright organization and cool compartments but still looks very stylish!

    • i seem to be leaning towards 8 the most. the fmil just offered up the desk she has in the bedroom we used to stay in when we lived there and it’s beautiful. it has deep drawers, is dark wood and could really be livened up with a good sanding and restain. i really like using the floating shelves as well, and a simple chair. i’m so excited!!
