Makeup Recognicence

When I was about 6 years old my Aunt (awesomeness) Brenda bought me Make Me Up Barbie.  It was a large-sized Barbie only from the shoulders up.  She had golden locks and a fresh palette face to work from.  So I worked on her, with the fury of a 6 year old hoping to create a masterpiece.  If you consider Tammy Faye-esque blue eyeshadow, spider eyelashes and bright pink lipstick to be a masterpiece…then moving forward you may refer to me as Van Gogh.

This led into a lifelong enjoyment and cash cow of purchasing makeup product after makeup product after makeup product.  I had to have this and I had to have that.  I’m certain the amount of money I spent on makeup and like products could pay off my current student loan balance.  BUT!!  I loved makeup, so it wasn’t something I felt entirely bad about putting my pennies towards.

As of a week ago, here lies my makeup container:

Yes, you are right in what you see.  It’s a tacklebox.  The only thing that would fit everything into it, yet even still I overflowed into other bags and containers.  After reading this over at Organizing Junkie, I was motivated to clear out the clutter.  Here is my collection now:

The black bag holds all of my Bare Escentuals brushes, the red box holds all of the Bare Escentuals powders, and the yellow bag keeps my mascara, eyeliners, lipsticks, lipliners, eyeshadows and tined moisturizer.  I kept enough to create 1-2 natural looks and 1-2 dramatic looks, because…really…that’s all I need.

Now…you…go and clean out your makeup stuff/hair products/whatever is overflowing into more than one bag.  Leave a comment here leading back to your post with your before and after photos so we can all see your success!!

  1. Nice!! I do that every so often with my make-up. Of course I have never had as much as you had! HA! But It’s nice to throw out the old and begin with some fresh looks!
